Following the ceremony we will be taking a curator tour of the exhibition "Expanding Tradition: Selections from the Larry D. and Brenda A. Thompson Collection." This year history doctoral student James Wall has been selected as the graduate student winner of the Lee Roy B. Giles Encouragement Award. The Lee Roy B. Giles Encouragement Award was established to reflect Lee Roy’s passion for education and for helping young people. Each year at least two students in African American Studies will receive cash grants to use toward their educational expenses. This is the first endowment dedicated to the Institute for African American Studies. Sponsored by the Institute for African American Studies.
