Tue, 02/13/2018 - 12:30pm 101 LeConte This installment of the Department of History’s undergraduate lecture series features Dr. Chana Kai Lee. Professor Lee teaches courses in the history of the Civil Rights movement, the history of Georgia, twentieth-century U.S. social history and an introductory course on contemporary issues in African American life and culture. She is the author of the prize-winning book For Freedom’s Sake: The Life of Fannie Lou Hamer, which tells the history of a childhood sharecropper who fought against racial injustice and classism within her own race to rise to national prominence in the Civil Rights movement. She is also the winner of the Department of History’s 2017 Gregory Award for her outstanding contributions to undergraduate education. Free admission, free pizza. This is an FYO event.
