Dr. Ursula Prutsch will present a lecture, “The Ammunition King Fritz Mandl: How an Austrian Emigrant of Jewish Origin was Turned into an Argentine Nazi.”  Dr. Prutsch is Professor of American Cultural Studies at The Amerika-Institut at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (Munich, Germany).

Dr. Prutsch studied history and Spanish at Karl-Franzens-University Graz, habilitation at the University of Vienna. Research areas: History of Brazil, Argentina and the USA, inter-American relations, emigration and exile from Austria to Latin America, populism, politics and gender. Main books: Creating Good Neighbors”. Die Kultur- und Wirtschaftspolitik der USA in Lateinamerika, 1940-1946 (Stuttgart 2008), with Enrique Rodrigues-Moura Brasilien. Eine Kulturgeschichte (Bielefeld 2013); Eva Perón. Leben und Sterben einer Legende (München 2015); Populismus in den USA und Lateinamerika (Hamburg 2019) and "Wer war Fritz Mandl“ (Wien 2022).
