Image: The Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council (GHRAC) has selected the M.A. Thesis, "A 'Miserable Creature' or 'Remarkable Man': Wilkes Flagg and the Ambiguity of Race in Nineteenth-Century Middle Georgia," written by UGA history alumnus Laura E. Nelson (MA history 2018), to receive the 2018 Award for Excellence in Student Research Using Historical Records. GHRAC is the state's advisory board to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia with respect to the Georgia Archives and historical records throughout our state. The award will be presented during GHRAC's annual Awards Program in October, which is National and Georgia Archives Month, at the Georgia Archives in Morrow, GA
